‘Has Completed His Move’: Top Source Reveals West Ham Have Signed £100k-Per-Week Star
West Ham Get Alvarez Deal Over the Line
Moyes Eager for Declan Rice Replacement
BBC Sport are reporting the fee to be in the region of £35 million for the Mexican International. Rice’s departure to London rivals Arsenal had left a void in the squad, with just Tomas Soucek and Flynn Downes the only recognised central midfield players on the books. There has also been a bid rejected for Scott McTominay but it appears West Ham have finally got their number one target.
The source indicates that the new signing will earn around £100,000 per week and has been a target for the club since the beginning of the transfer window. It is believed that his medical is complete and that the announcement is now just a matter of time.
Who is Edson Alvarez?
Alvarez’s all-round game as a holding midfield player is exceptional, with his tackling and passing range a treat for Hammers fans to enjoy this campaign. These qualities see him as an option at centre-back if required, meaning we can add versatility to his repertoire. He is exactly the kind of signing that may fill the Rice-shaped hole in the squad.
The soon-to-be West Ham player made his international debut aged 19 and has gone on to make 69 caps, winning two Gold Cups (2019, 2023) and appearing in the last World Cup to become a vital component of the national side.

During his time with Ajax, Alvarez has made almost 150 appearances since leaving Club America of Mexico in 2019. Despite his deeper role, a contribution of ten goals over the last three Eredivisie seasons displays that goals are also a part of his impressive game. The Dutch club have won two league titles in this period but had a poor season by their high standards last season. Despite this, Alvarez still impressed, showing mental toughness in his game even when his side is struggling.
West Ham Need More Signings
The Hammers look light in many areas and will need further additions to have a successful season. Michail Antonio and Danny Ings are good options up top but there are doubts if they will stay fit and score enough goals to help the side move up the table.
At least one additional midfielder is being targeted due to the lack of options discussed there. A replacement for Lucas Paqueta may be required if Manchester City decide to follow up and make a move. There is confidence that a deal to bring defender Harry Maguire to the London Stadium can be completed after a fee was reportedly agreed. It is expected to be a busy final few weeks of the window.
