In one of the best college football games in quite some time, the Alabama Crimson Tide stunned the Georgia Bulldogs in the final two minutes of action. It is worth noting that the Tide blew a 30-7 halftime lead, but they eventually did have to answer a potential game-winning 67-yard touchdown pass from Carson Beck to Dillon Bell.
Alabama answered in a manner that broke the hearts of Georgia fans everywhere, as Jalen Milroe and Ryan Williams connected on a 75-yard touchdown that saw the 17-year-old receiver prance down the field like a gazelle. Williams wasn’t the only freshman who played a part in the massive victory for Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama squad, as fellow five-star freshman, Zabien Brown, made the game-sealing interception on Georgia’s final drive.
While the 41-34 loss had to Hurt the Bulldogs, who came so close to winning, Kirby Smart revealed just how proud he was of them in his postgame speech.
“I have never in my life been more proud of guys competing for 60 minutes of the game over and over and over and over,” Smart said. “We said in the second half we got to win more moments than them. One moment short. One moment short.
“But I want every one of you, I want every one of you to think about how you feel right now. Think about how you feel right now. Right now, how you feel. Because how you respond to this tells me everything about who you are. But you know what, we better get better. I love every one of you. You’re fighters.”
For Georgia, losing, in general, isn’t something that the team is familiar with. However, this loss hits a bit differently. It ended their 42-game regular season win streak. It also marks the program’s third loss since 2021, all of which have been against the Tide.
Certainly wouldn’t want to be the team that has to play them next, which happens to be the Auburn Tigers this Saturday. As for Bama, they need to avoid being content, and take an improved Vanderbilt team seriously.
