“Very Proud To Be A Canuck”: Tyler Myers Discusses Re-Signing In Vancouver & The Upcoming 2024-25 Season

Tyler Myers signed a three-year extension with the Vancouver Canucks this offseason.

Few players have been with the organization longer than Tyler Myers. The 34-year-old defenceman is entering his sixth season with the Vancouver Canucks after signing a three-year extension before the start of free agency. A key piece of Vancouver’s blue line, Myers is ready for what should be another successful season, which will also feature hitting the 1,000-game mark for his career.

As mentioned, Myers signed a three-year extension worth $9 million this offseason. The deal will keep Myers in Vancouver until the end of the 2026-27 season and expires when he is 37. For Myers, re-signing with the organization was important as it keeps his family close to their home in the Okanagan.

It’s always what we wanted,” said Myers. “Family and I live in Kelowna. BC has become our home. Very excited to be back, very proud to be a Canuck and to get three more years out of it. It’s a great feeling for us.”

Expectations are high for this Canucks team heading into the 2024-25 season. The organization is coming off a year in which they won their first-ever Pacific Division title while also making it to Game 7 of the second round. As for Myers, he is very aware of the expectations and is “still very motivated and excited to get the year going.” He also explained that accountability is going to be crucial if the team is going to build off their success from 2023-24.

“We talked last year and even a bit before that about how we wanted to raise our standard. I think that just continues. We raised our standard from last year. Our expectations are higher. I’m sure the accountability is going to be more evident throughout the season, but it’s good; makes us better. We know, leaving the rink, that we’re all in for each other.”
