ESPN: The most watched Monday night football game in 13 seasons was the Jaguars vs. Bengals match in Week 13.
Even though the Jacksonville Jaguars were unable to secure a victory during Monday Night Football, they managed to secure a draw.
The Jaguars’ 34–31 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals was the most watched Monday Night Football match in 13 seasons, according to ESPN.
“The Cincinnati Bengals vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Monday Night Football game (December 4, 8:15 p.m. ET) on ESPN, ABC, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, and NFL+ drew 16.5 million viewers, making it the most watched Week 13 MNF game since the Jets vs. Patriots game in 2010.” 16,484,000 viewers represented a 46% increase from the previous year (Saints-Buccaneers). One million people watched Monday Night Football on ESPN2, thanks to Peyton and Eli,” an ESPN press release stated.
As of Week 13, Monday Night Football has averaged 16.7 million viewers per game this season, which is 29% more than it was at the same point in the previous campaign (15 games this season compared to 14 in 2022). All of the televised games, including Week 3 with two overlapping games compared to one in the 2022 season, are included in the impressive numbers. With the exception of Week 3 this season, Monday Night Football would have seen a 31% increase in viewers annually, averaging 17 million per game.”
Late in the fourth quarter through overtime (11:45–11:45 p.m.), Monday Night Football averaged nearly 18 million viewers, according to ESPN, making it the most watched telecast of the evening across all major demos.
We will all take responsibility for this one and truly focus on the minor details that we constantly bring up. Five games remain, so we have a short window of time to take care of business. I won’t say that because this one hurt, we have to scrap it. Josh Allen, an outside linebacker for the Jaguars, said following the defeat, “You know Monday Night.”
