Daniel Farke provides three upbeat injury bulletins for Leeds United ahead of their trip to Hull City.
The Leeds United manager has released an injury update ahead of tomorrow night’s trip to Hull City.
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke provided three encouraging injury updates ahead of his team’s trip to Hull City on Wednesday night. Injuries disrupted Farke’s plans for the opening month of the season, but Leeds’ huge injury list appears to be easing.
After taking a knock in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Millwall, summer signing Etham Apmadu was ruled out. Despite the short turnaround, Farke looked to be optimistic that the midfielder would be fit.
“He had a knock, and that’s always the case when there’s a quick turnaround because there are some knocks, some bruises in every football game,” Farke said in his pre-match press conference. “It doesn’t look too bad and has improved significantly over the last 24 hours.”
“He’s Welsh, so I believe he’s a tough guy, or should be tough because he’s Welsh!” So I guess he’ll be fine; let’s see how things progress over the next 24 hours.”
There was also good news about Junior Firpo and Patrick Bamford, who were both injured on the eve of the new season.
“Junior is still training individually, but we hope to get him back to team training as soon as possible,” Farke said. “Good news from Patrick Bamford, he joined us yesterday, the first time back in team training.”
Farke said that he is unlikely to risk Bamford this week, but that his impending comeback will benefit the team.
“Obviously, the games this week come a little too soon for him after he was out for about eight weeks, but that’s good news and a huge boost for us.”
“When you return to team training, you are theoretically available, but keep in mind that he has been out for eight weeks.” Yes, he’s back in team training and might be available if there’s an emergency or something like that, or if we have a particular idea, but for the game tomorrow, he’s not in my plans since he’s only had one training session, and I think we need to be cautious.”
With Liam Cooper returning to training last week, Djed Spence, who is out for eight weeks after injuring his lateral collateral ligament, and Stuart Dallas are the only players still in the treatment room.
Leeds travel east tomorrow night seeking for back-to-back league wins for the first time since last November, while they have not won two-in-a-row on the road since May 2021, when they won at Burnley and Southampton during Marcelo Bielsa’s first season back in the Premier League.
