On Thursday, the Eagles’ star rookie appeared on the injured report.

Jalen Carter, the Eagles’ defensive tackle, did not practice on Thursday due to an ankle issue.

This week, Dallas Goedert, Brian Johnson, and Jalen Hurts were all asked about the Eagles’ difficulties in the red zone this season.
Jalen Carter, the Eagles’ star rookie defensive tackle, was listed as injured on Thursday.

Carter, 22, did not practice after fully participating in the session on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the Eagles were also without cornerback Darius Slay (knee) and safety Justin Evans (knee). Slay and Evans were absent for the second day in a row, while Carter was a newcomer.

Carter hasn’t simply been good for a rookie through five games. You could argue that he is the Eagles’ top defensive player and one of the best defensive players in the NFL. He’s on his way to becoming the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Carter has 3 1/2 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, 4 QB hits, 12 tackles, and 23 total pressures in five games this season, tying him for the league lead with Aaron Donald. So far, Georgia’s No. 9 overall choice has been outstanding.

Carter’s injury is something to keep an eye on as the Eagles prepare for Sunday’s 4:25 p.m. kickoff against the Jets at MetLife Stadium.

The good news for the Eagles at defensive tackle is that Fletcher Cox (back) and Marlon Tuipulotu (triceps) could return on Sunday. After being limited on Wednesday, Cox was a full participant on Friday. Tuipulotu, who had missed the opening day of the week, was back as a limited participant.

The following is the complete injury report from Thursday:

DT Jalen Carter (ankle), S Justin Evans (knee), and CB Darius Slay (knee) all out.

Strictly limited: LB Nakobe Dean (foot), TE Sydney Brown (hamstring), DT Jack Stoll (shoulder) (triceps) Marlon Tuipulotu

Fletcher Cox (back) and Rashaad Penny (illness) are out.
