Reporter shares major update on new West Ham hero Edson Alvarez after he looked devastated when coming off injured against Man City

A reporter has shared a major update on new West Ham hero Edson Alvarez after he looked devastated when coming off injured against Man City.

West Ham had their first big injury scare of the season in the 3-1 defeat to Man City at the London Stadium.

Edson Alvarez has been an instant hit with Hammers fans following his £34m move from Ajax.

The Mexican destroyer really is living up to his moniker El Machin (The Machine) thus far.

And he was brilliant again when Man City came to town, doing a superb job of shielding the back four alongside Tomas Soucek and James Ward-Prowse.

So when Alvarez went down injured on around 65 minutes, West Ham fans were understandably concerned.

The towering midfielder stayed down for two minutes and could not continue. Worryingly he looked in some distress as he left the field.

So great is his influence on this West Ham team already that Man City almost immediately took advantage scoring twice in the 76th and 86th minutes to seal the win.

The fixture schedule is about to kick up a gear as West Ham’s latest European campaign gets underway before Premier League games either side of a Carabao Cup third round trip to Lincoln.

So West Ham will need their best players available for their key games. And Alvarez is certainly among that number.

Now a reporter has shared a major update on new West Ham hero Alvarez after he looked devastated when coming off injured against Man City.

And it’s good news!

The Athletic’s West Ham reporter Roshane Thomas says he spoke to the Mexican after the game and it was little more than a touch of cramp off the back of a 10,000 mile round trip to the US to play for his country.

“Spoke to Edson Alvarez in the mixed zone and he said he’s fine,” Thomas reports.

“He probably came off due to fatigue having come back late from the international break.”

West Ham showed they can give the best teams on the planet a real game as they took on Manchester City.

But keeping the likes of Alvarez fit for the majority of the season is crucial to the club’s hopes.

So this is fantastic news after that little scare.
