Amar Doman, the owner of the B.C. Lions, is prepared to contribute financially to the SFU Red Leafs football team’s return to competition.

“If there’s a cheque to be written, and that’s the problem to save football, then you’ve got a good network,” Doman said on Friday’s Donnie and Dhali TV show, adding that he and his “business colleagues” are discussing financial support for the team. If this “means guys like me need to put in money we’ll do it.”

He restated that to Postmedia, stating that “money available” if financial difficulties are the reason behind the football team’s current state.

The 1965-founded program was to be discontinued immediately, the school announced on April 4. Since then, former players and football enthusiasts like Doman have been attempting to revive it.

“We ask, ‘What’s the problem?'” Let’s finish this season together. “How about we reassemble Humpty Dumpty?” Doman said.

“We find it incomprehensible that this was decided in a snap decision. We believe it’s time for them to take the lead and make a difference.
