In today’s edition of Auburn Tigers News, Auburn football adds another 2025 commitment, and Auburn basketball picks up another transfer
Over the weekend, 3-star cornerback Dante Core committed to the Auburn football team. Ranked as the #64 cornerback in the recruiting class of 2025 and the #80 player out of the state of Florida, Core committed to the Tigers after his second visit to the Plains on Saturday.
Core was previously committed to South Florida, but reopened his recruitment last fall. He nearly committed to the Tigers on A-Day, but waited for his second visit to make the move.
“I just felt like it is a great fit for me,” Core said, per Auburn Undercover. “It feels like home. The hospitality is great. I’m ready to work. The feeling I get when I step on campus is surreal. I love all the staff, I love the coaches, I love the culture that they’re building here. It makes me feel at home every time I step foot on campus here.”
Auburn football is now up to 11 commits in their 2025 class, which is ranked #11 in the country.
Auburn basketball picks up another transfer
The Auburn basketball program added to their roster this weekend, too. After a midweek visit with the Tigers, former SMU forward Ja’Heim Hudson signed onto Bruce Pearl’s squad with one year of eligibility left.
The Marietta, GA, native began his career at Georgia State and spent two seasons with the Panthers before transferring to SMU. Last season, Hudson was a key bench piece for the Mustangs and averaged 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 43.4 percent from the field.
“It’s a huge deal,” Hudson said after his visit to the Plains on Thursday, per Auburn Undercover. “I have dreamed at being on this type of stage and now I’m getting the opportunity. It’s almost too good to be true. It’s definitely a great opportunity. I want to take the best route. I want to make the most of it.”
After the transfer additions of JP Pegues and Ja’Heim Hudson, the Tigers will still be on the lookout for another point guard to add to the roster.
