Burnley announces signing of French forward Wilson Odobert

Burnley has officially confirmed the acquisition of French U20 international forward, Wilson Odobert from Troyes. Odobert has inked a five-year contract with the Clarets.

Odobert becomes the ninth player to join Burnley during this summer transfer window.

Upon his introduction to the Turf Moor faithful, Odobert commented, “I was drawn to the vision of the club. The synergy between the manager, the team, and the community of Burnley stood out. My aim is to ensure consistent playtime and give my best for the club.”

Odobert began his footballing journey with Paris Saint-Germain’s academy in 2017.

Despite his promising progression through the ranks, he declined a professional contract with PSG.

Instead, in a pursuit for regular first-team football, he chose to ply his trade with Troyes.

During his tenure with Troyes in Ligue 1, Odobert made 32 appearances and scoring four goals in just one season.

Internationally, Odobert has been active in the French youth circuit, representing the nation from the U16 level through to the U20s. Currently, he has achieved three caps for the U20 side, finding the back of the net once.

Highlighting his playing attributes, the 18-year-old stated, “I prefer an offensive approach, leveraging my dribbling skills and pace. I am primed for the Premier League, and I am eager to begin this new chapter.”

Player ‘now likely to join’ Burnley – Final decision awaited to accept Clarets’ bid

Two days ago, journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported Burnley have made an offer to sign Dodi Lukebakio and will wait until the end of this week for the Hertha Berlin star’s decision.

Later that day, Bild stated the German club want to close the striker’s sale to the Clarets as soon as possible. It was also stated Vincent Kompany is keen to have him at Turf Moor.

Tavolieri took to Twitter again to state that Burnley have been in talks with the 25-year-old’s entourage this week. He then adds the Belgium international is ‘now likely to join’ Vincent Kompany’s side.

Burnley have already made a bid worth €11m plus €2m in potential bonus payments. The journalist says the German club are now waiting for the former Watford man’s final decision so they can accept the English club’s offer.

Tavolieri seems confident the deal is likely to go through as he says the transfer is ‘almost done’. Burnley can get the deal over the line soon once Lukebakio makes a firm decision.

The Belgian scored 12 goals and contributed five assists from 33 games last season, where Hertha were relegated from the Bundesliga.

Burnley FC reveal new Turf Moor addition for Premier League

Burnley FC have announced a new addition at Turf Moor ahead of their opening Premier League match against champions Manchester City this evening.

Burnley pie company Haffners will be serving its goods to hungry football fans ahead of the Claret’s return to the Premier League.

Haffners will be serving its award-winning pies to Clarets’ fans in the fan zone this season.

The Burnley bakery will start selling their popular pies from tonight (August 11) and will also be adding their very own Haffners peas and gravy.

Tonight’s game will see Burnley take on defending champions Manchester City in a clash at Turf Moor stadium.

Ted Cockett, managing director of Haffners, said: “My brother Dean and I are life-long Burnley fans ourselves and have been attending matches home and away since we were kids.

“To now have our own branded area of the fan zone selling Haffners pies is just incredible and we can’t wait to open the hatch and welcome a sea of hungry customers in claret and blue.

“We posted the news on social media yesterday and the response was amazing! Having only owned the business for a year we’re extremely grateful to our customers for their loyalty. They asked for our pies on the Turf, and we delivered.”

It’s been quite a week for the business, first hearing news of two award wins at the Great Taste Awards and also sharing the news of the acquisition of Pasture Farm Foods, and now this.

Facebook followers were quick to react to the news with comments such as “best pies in Burnley”, “OMG tell grandma and she might come to games”, and “great news, great pies”.

And Ted is hoping for one certain customer at the hatch this season, NFL legend J.J Watt who invested in Burnley earlier this year.

“To get J.J. Watt enjoying a proper taste of Burnley would be just amazing, and we’re determined to make that happen,” he said.
