New £25m Everton approach for Leeds United’s Willy Gnonto revealed, sell-on included – Sky Sports
Leeds United attacker Willy Gnonto has become subject to a fourth bid from Everton this month, the latest amounting to £25million – including add-ons and a sell-on clause.
Daniel Farke’s press conference today was always bound to bring instant questioning on the biggest talking point at hand right now: Willy Gnonto’s future.
The Italian international, of course, refused to play in Leeds’ games against Shrewsbury and Birmingham City last week.
A potential move away for Gnonto has been frequently reported, with Everton seemingly the most likely of destinations as things stand.
It was claimed by Fabrizio Romano that he has already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with the Goodison Park club, as the Toffees aim to strike an agreement with a Leeds side that have, up to now, been adamant that the player is not for sale.
What’s the latest?
The Toffees have now tabled a fourth offer for the 19-year-old, this latest bid amounting to £25million including add-ons – according to Sky Sports (live blog, Wednesday, 3.38pm):
“It is understood there had been negotiations over a move to Everton for a month prior to this.
“Within that time, there was understood to have been four offers made by Everton, culminating in the latest one of £25m inclusive of add-ons, plus a sell-on clause.”
This is getting much closer to a fee that I can see the club accepting for Gnonto, given that we’re talking about a hefty overall package already.
I would imagine that this fee is rejected initially, in order to bring the up-front sum much closer to £25million.
If we’re selling Gnonto after all this, we’re getting the money that we think he’s worth, and getting a sell-on clause that covers us in the future too.
However, Everton look to be pressing on with their intent to sign him.
