Luton Town fans have branded BBC pundit Crooks a ‘football snob’ following his ‘idiotic’ and ‘disrespectful’ comments.
Hatters fans react to ex-Spurs winger Garth Crooks’ ‘idiotic’ and ‘disrespectful’ comments about the Hatters being ‘down by Christmas.’

The 65-year-old made the comments while putting together his BBC Team of the Week following the latest round of Premier League games, which included Town’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham on Friday night.

@LutonAnalytics: “We’ve lost away to a team that will almost certainly play in Europe this season and has spent a billion pounds.”

“Then we play at home against a hot team that just won the European Cup.”

“Those three games were never going to decide our season. It’s such a simple take.”

@JasonHolyhead: “Reality is that Luton Town and Sheffield United are the most likely to relegate, but the disrespect from some pundits is infuriating.” It’s football arrogance.

“People who make statements like Crooks did so early in the season simply demonstrate the limits of their journalistic intelligence and competence,” writes @Koukkoullis1.

“We Hatters know what we’re in for, and we’re going to have a good time.”

“LTFC — what a story.”

“It’s almost as if we’re an affront to some @BBCSport pundits,” says @Millinerstale1.

“They’re happy to accept clubs funded by gambling companies, but a club that lives within its means and acts responsibly must go.” In an increasingly soulless @premierleague, we’re a team with soul.”

@stephenrperry59: “He may be correct, but it’s an idiotic thing to say at this point (especially given the limited number of games played by Christmas).”

“I believe I made it 15 games before Christmas; Forest had three points at that point last season and stayed up.”
