Norwich Boss David Wagner Impressed By Adam Idah’s Form

Though he has been restricted to a substitute’s role in Norwich’s four Championship games so far this season, Adam Idah has impressed manager David Wagner.

The Ireland striker scored in the 2-1 opening day victory against Hull and added another in the 4-0 victory over Huddersfield at the weekend. Considering he only scored twice in the Championship last season, it is a very promising sign for the 22-year-old.

Idah also started the League Cup win against QPR and is likely to do so again when Norwich face Bristol City in the second round on Tuesday evening.

‘Adam Idah is in a very, very good shape’

“Adam is in a very, very good shape and in very good form as well,” Wagner told the Eastern Daily Press.

“You can see it in training, you can see it when he started at QPR, and I think his first goal, a very important goal against Hull on the first day, when he was in the right position at the right moment really gave him a boost.

“This is what you’ve seen in training as well. He was able to show it on the pitch for a longer period in the [Huddersfield] game after the injury to Josh [Sargent], but got some cramps at the end, so we have to work on his fitness.

“It was great that all three strikers scored, but it was how they worked that pleased me. We did exactly what we wanted to do to make them play long balls, and let our defence and centre backs deal with that.

“Not just Adam but all our subs made an impact again. I wasn’t quite happy with that aspect against Millwall, because the performance dropped for the first time I felt this season after making changes.”

Idah’s goalscoring form is also a boost for Ireland manager Stephen Kenny ahead of the European Championship qualifiers against France on September 7th and the Netherlands on September 10th.
