Nottingham Forest add Bradford City gem to Academy ranks
Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Bradford City midfielder Alfie Bradshaw. The Reds have confirmed the deal this morning as the player puts pen to paper on a contract from the League Two outfit.
Bradshaw has risen through the ranks with the Bantams. He’s now signed a scholarship with Forest but in September he will become a professional on a contract until 2026.
The attacking midfielder is only 16-years-old. According to the Telegraph and Argus, Bradford are likely to receive some compensation for the youngster with a number of add-ons included based on his performances.
Forest have a star-studded academy. The club currently has Category One status and it must have proved impossible for Bradshaw to leave Bradford for the City Ground.
It’s the second time this summer that Forest have bolstered their ranks with a youngster from League Two. Goalkeeper Theo Avery joined earlier in the close season from Mansfield Town and he’s awaiting his debut.
Bradshaw is clearly someone that Forest have been watching for a little while. Now, it will be interesting to see how he takes to life playing at a better standard.
Forest have completed the signing of Bradshaw
At 16, it’s fascinating to see just how well Bradshaw will do at Forest. It’s always pleasing to see the club raid lower-league clubs for their burgeoning young talents.
Forest have done well at under-18 and under-21 level over the past two seasons. Now they will look to kick on again this season, with Warren Joyce and Tom Mallinson in charge of the teams.
Bradshaw looks like an exciting attacking player. From a club perspective, you can never have enough firepower and hopefully, the youngster can make a huge impact at Forest.
