With their defensive star out for the season, the Seattle Seahawks face a significant setback in their playoff ambitions.
The Seattle Seahawks are looking like a serious NFC contender, but they have been dealt a significant blow by losing their star pass-rusher for the remainder of the season.
The Seattle Seahawks have been given a brutal blow after a great start to the season, as defensive sensation Uchenna Nwosu has been lost for the season.
Nwosu tore his pectoral muscle in the team’s Week 7 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, forcing him to have season-ending surgery.
Last season, his first with the team after joining from the Los Angeles Chargers, he had 10 sacks before signing a three-year, £43 million ($53 million) agreement to stay in Seattle.
Nwosu had a solid start to the season, with three sacks and five tackles for loss in the first six games, but he will now miss the rest of what Seattle hopes will be a successful drive for the playoffs.
In his most recent media availability, head coach Pete Carroll confirmed the news, saying, “He’s got a pec injury that’s going to probably require surgery.” That’s what we’re hearing at the moment.”
Carroll also stated that the squad is not looking to sign another player after losing Nwosu. “We’re not thinking like that yet,” he replied. We’ll do our best to absorb it.
“We have to rely on our rotation.” We’ve been on a rotation the entire time, and we’ll keep it up.
“It, on the other hand, challenges it.” Chenna is a tremendous football player and a fantastic team member, and he is such a tough man and such a heady player and so consistent, always incredibly physical, that he always sends the appropriate message. We will truly miss him.”
The Seahawks have seen fellow pass-rusher Boye Mafe improve in his second season, with four sacks in his previous four games, while Darrell Taylor and youngster Derick Hall are ready to replace Nwosu.
