At Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, Florida State baseball (47-15) will take on No. 1 Tennessee (55-12) in the College World Series on Friday night. On Friday, the Seminoles and Volunteers are scheduled to play at 7:00 p.m. ET. ESPN will broadcast the match:
Nos. 4 North Carolina and No. 12 Virginia are also included in bracket one. The CWS between UNC and Virginia will start at 2:00 p.m. No. 2 Kentucky, No. 3 Texas A&M, and Florida are in bracket two. On Monday night, No. 7 Georgia and No. 10 NC State square off to determine which team advances to Omaha as the eighth seed.
At 2:00 pm on Saturday, the winner of UGA and NC State will take on Kentucky. Texas A&M and UF will play that evening at 7:00 p.m.
FSU and the Vols will play on Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. if FSU prevails in game one. They will play the afternoon game at 2:00 p.m. if they lose.
The eight teams in Omaha were divided into two brackets, and the winners of each bracket went to the Finals via double elimination. A best-of-three series is used for the CWS Finals.
June 22–24, Saturday, is when the Men’s College World Series Finals are scheduled to take place. Florida State has traveled to the College World Series 24 times. Their goal is to win their very first National Championship.
Steve Smith, the assistant coach for Florida State men’s basketball, is reportedly leaving the Seminoles to join Boston College. This information was reported by Pete Thamel. Smith, who worked with Eagles head coach Earl Grant at Clemson, will have a sort of reunion.
Smith has led Florida State to the 2020 ACC Championship, the Sweet 16 of the 2021 NCAA Tournament, the 2021 ACC Tournament championship game, and the top-10 in the national rankings. In his first full recruiting cycle in Tallahassee, he also assisted the Seminoles in drawing the nation’s second-ranked recruiting class.
