Steve Kerr Gets Honest About Jonathan Kuminga Not Playing On Sunday..
The Golden State Warriors came close, but not close enough, on Sunday as they were taken down by the Los Angeles Clippers and earned entry into the Play-In Tournament.
Following the game, there were multiple questions about how the Warriors performed, including why Jonathan Kuminga didn’t get any minutes on the court.
Speaking with the press, per Evan Sidery, head coach Steve Kerr talked about Kuminga’s absence.

Following the game, there were multiple questions about how the Warriors performed, including why Jonathan Kuminga didn’t get any minutes on the court.
Speaking with the press, per Evan Sidery, head coach Steve Kerr talked about Kuminga’s absence.
“We’ve just found a group since Jimmy got here that we’re pretty comfortable with,” Kerr said, referencing Jimmy Butler.
The lack of Kuminga in such a high-stakes game says a lot about his place in the team, and no one is sure what will come next.
This season, Kuminga has averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
His numbers have dipped since last year, and his minutes on the court have gone down a bit too.
But most noticeable is the change in the number of games he played.
In 2023-24, Kuminga was in 74 games and started in 46 of them, but he only appeared in 47 in 2024-25, starting in just 10.
There have been stories about Kerr and Kuminga not seeing eye-to-eye, but most people thought they had worked out their issues and put them behind them.
Kerr said the Warriors are satisfied with the lineup they have created since the addition of Butler, and there is truth to that.
But why such a lack of Kuminga, and what does this mean for his future?
Warriors fans won’t be surprised if he leaves Golden State this summer, especially after not appearing in Sunday’s game.
But perhaps he will appear in the Play-In, perform very well, and return to the regular rotation.
