How much Leicester City spent on agent fees as further evidence of Premier League gulf emerges.. FA release latest rundown of sums paid to intermediaries for transfer business over past year – and Chelsea, Man City and Man United lead way..
Leicester City spent close to £10m on agent fees this season – but the figure pales in comparison to the sums spent by the Premier League’s biggest sides.
While bringing in 10 new players across the summer and winter transfer windows, appointing two managers and handing new contracts to the likes of Jamie Vardy, Jannik Vestergaard and Wilfred Ndidi, City paid £9.8m to representatives.
Agent fees for clubs up and down the country have been revealed by the FA and City’s figure is the fourth-lowest among Premier League sides.

At £6.3m, Ipswich spent the least, with Southampton (£8.9m) and Everton (£9.2m) also below City.
At the top of the division, the sums were huge. Chelsea spent more than six times what City did with a league-leading £60.4m paid to agents over the past year.
Chelsea’s fee was extremely high, with only Manchester City (£52.1m) and Manchester United (£33m) getting to within half of it.
There were four other clubs whose fees were at least double City’s. They are Aston Villa, Newcastle, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
The total fees paid to agents by the 20 Premier League clubs for the past year stands at £409.1m, almost identical to the year before, which stood at £409.6m.
City’s figure of £9.8m is not too much higher than the £8.1m they paid to intermediaries during their Championship promotion season.
There has been a lot of talk this campaign about the gulf between the top two divisions and fees paid to agents also make that clear.
Collectively, the 24 Championship sides spent £63.2m on agent fees, less than sixth of what Premier League clubs spent.
The Championship is only so high because of Leeds’ £18.8m spend, which makes up 30 per cent of the division’s overall pay-out and is way ahead of Burnley with the second-highest fee of £5.3m.
