Tottenham ‘plan €40m offer’ for 23-goal striker; Postecoglou to green light move on one condition
Tottenham ‘will bid’ for Feyenoord centre-forward Santiago Gimenez if Harry Kane leaves the club this summer, according to reports.
The Mexico international signed for the Dutch club last summer and has been in fine scoring form, attracting the interest of several clubs.
Gimenez made 45 appearances across all competitions for Feyenoord last term. In the process, he scored 23 goals and made three assists. This gives him an average of 0.57 goal contributions per match.
Tottenham were linked with the 22-year-old in May. Now, with the future of Kane increasingly uncertain, they may well step up their pursuit of the forward.
Kane has just 12 months remaining on his current contract and Bayern Munich are pushing hard to sign him.
The Bundesliga giants have already seen an opening bid rejected for the England international. Reports suggest they are planning to submit a fresh £80m offer in the near future.
Tottenham have reportedly offered Kane a huge contract worth £400,000-per-week in an attempt to retain his services. The new contract remains unsigned, however,
As a result, it seems Spurs have a contingency plan in place in case their all-time record goal scorer does leave this summer.

Tottenham have ‘already met’ Gimenez’s agents
According to Mexican outlet Jovenes Futbolistas MX, Tottenham are ‘ready to make their move’ for Gimenez, amid uncertainly over the future of Kane.
The report states that Spurs are ‘planning to offer’ €40m (£34.6m) for the player this summer and have ‘already met’ with his agents.
Gimenez is under contract at Feyenoord until 2026. Therefore, the Dutch club are under no pressure to sell, so it will take a big offer to secure his services.
Feyenoord will reportedly demand at least €50m (£43.3m) for their star striker. Spurs are reportedly ‘aware of this,’ but are keen to open negotiations slightly lower to test the water.
With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham do indeed make a concrete offer for Gimenez in the near future.
Ange Postecoglou is in for a busy few weeks as he looks to prepare his squad for the coming season. Bolstering his defence is his priority and Tottenham have been linked with several centre-backs recently.
There is no doubt that Kane would be a monumental loss for Tottenham if he does join Bayern this summer, though. Replacing him would be an incredibly difficult task, but Gimenez seems to be one of Postecoglou’s favourite options.
