According to reports on Thursday, West Ham may be obliged to trade Jarrod Bowen in January.
Jarrod Bowen has had a fantastic start to the season at West Ham United, and his form has been recognized by the Premier League.
The clever forward is one of six Premier League nominees for August Player of the Month, alongside Taiwo Awoniyi, James Maddison, Bryan Mbuemo, Kaoru Mitoma, and Rodri.
Bowen had a joint-high three goal involvements for the Hammers in August, and he has three goals and one assist through four games in the infant Premier League standings.
Hammers fans will be overjoyed with their precious asset’s form, especially given that it has propelled them to fourth place in the table, just two points behind Manchester City
.
However, there will be some trepidation. The summer demonstrated how the sharks are circling West Ham in search of their top players.
Captain Declan Rice was, of course, transferred to Arsenal, while Lucas Paqueta was said to be on his way to Manchester City, only for an FA investigation into betting practices to halt that move – claims the Brazilian has categorically denied.
Bowen’s name was also mentioned in the gossip columns. Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was the target of a rumoured £150 million approach from Saudi Pro League team Al Ittihad (talkSPORT), and there were rumblings that he may be on the Reds’ list of prospective heirs to Egypt’s king.
Bowen is under contract at the London Stadium until June 2025 (transfermarkt), and the Hammers’ boardroom will be tense if he does not agree to new terms before the new year.
It would put him in the final 18 months of his contract, and if his form continues to garner award nominations, some of the big boys might be interested in luring him away from East London.
West Ham must move quickly or risk being sold in January.
In other West Ham news, Alphonse Areola may be dropped from France’s squad.
