Newcastle United Women have announced a double swoop – taking their new signing count to four.

Newcastle United Women have taken their new signing count to four – with more players set to be unveiled in the coming days.

On Thursday, the Lady Magpies announced the double capture of Amber-Keegan Stobbs and Tyler Dodds, both of whom have dropped down a division.

Keegan-Stobbs, named after Newcastle legend Kevin Keegan, spent last season at Championship side Lewes FC. Meanwhile, Dodds arrives from local rivals Sunderland.

“Amber is a top professional,” said manager Becky Langley. Keegan-Stobbs, 30, has also played for Reading, Everton, West Ham, Charlton, Crystal Palace and Watford.

“She is a Southerner with a bubbly and driven personality. Her leadership qualities are second to none, and she’s a massive Geordie fan – hence the Keegan in her name.

“She will give absolutely everything for the black and white shirt.”

Like Keegan-Stobbs, Dodds arrives with a wealth of experience having played in Italy and Scotland as well as Durham, Middlesbrough and Sunderland.

“Tyler’s a bright and creative winger,” Langley added. “I’ve known her a lot of years. Her crossing ability is absolutely excellent.

“Tyler has represented GB at the University Games [2017] in Hong Kong and China, she’s played in Italy, as well as the Championship. She’s a very good signing.”

Earlier this week, Newcastle Women confirmed they had signed Emma Kelly, who captained Sunderland last season, and Elysia Boddy from Championship champions Bristol City.

The Lady Magpies switched from part-time to full-time last month as part of Amanda Staveley’s vision to turn the team into a Women’s Super League side.

As such, that has allowed Langley to attract a higher calibre of player in the hope of mounting a Northern Premier Division – the third team of Women’s football – promotion next season.

NewcastleWorld understands Bridget Galloway and Hannah Greenwood are set to arrive from Durham.
