Atlético Madrid took on their city rivals Real Madrid in the Estadio Metropolitano in a 1-1 draw, but there was plenty of controversy off the pitch as Atlético ultras group ‘Frente Atlético’ threw projectiles at Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Following the crowd trouble, reports from COPE indicate that on Friday La Liga took the first steps towards pressing charges against the group responsible.

As part of this process, La Liga are urging the disbanding of the group, as well as closing any of the premises where the group meets and stopping any of the group’s future activities.

La Liga has requested the support of the State Commission against Violence in Sport in order to deal with the group, which has a documented history of 142 incidents taking place between the 2015/16 season and the 2022/23 season.

This seems to be part of a wider battle on the part of La Liga in order to deal with the rising issue of violent groups of ultras in Spanish football, which seems to be widespread across Spain.

La Liga seem to be taking a zero-tolerance approach moving forward, in an attempt to wipe out crowd violence from footballing Spain entirely.

Griezmann’s relationship with Deschamps has not always been perfect. The 33-year-old was disappointed when he was overlooked to become captain of Les Bleus. Kylian Mbappé was ultimately handed the captain’s armband instead of the former Barcelona player.

However, Deschamps has played a role in the sheer length of the Frenchman’s career at the international level. Téléfoot understands that Griezmann would have retired 5 years earlier in 2019 if it wasn’t for efforts from the Les Bleus head coach to persuade him. The former Marseille manager travelled to Madrid to convince the Mâcon-born attacker to continue to play. His efforts were successful, with the former France international agreeing to continue for another half of a decade. Despite their up-and-down relationship, it is one that Deschamps appreciated, “He has always been honest… Our relationship has always remained fluid.”

Still’s wishes were granted as he became the manager of the Racing club. The brothers of the former Reims manager, Edward and Nicolas Still, have formed part of his coaching staff. Nicolas was also part of the Belgian-born head coach’s staff during his time at the Champagne club. Edward has previously been a coach at Kortrijk and Eupen.

The brothers have all gone into coaching despite having no playing experience at the professional level. Now a trio at Lens, the former Preston North End youth coach is proud to be working so closely with his brothers after it became a dealbreaker in negotiations. Commenting on working with his brothers, the Lens head coach said, “My first condition was that I want to be surrounded by my two brothers.”
