David Krejci Injury Update: Recovery Timeline and Expected Return Date for Boston Bruins Center
The Boston Bruins’ top center, David Krejci, will not participate in either of the team’s last two regular-season games. Krejci will miss time due to a lower-body injury, according to Boston Hockey Now’s Joe Haggerty.
What has David Krejci been up to?
David Krejci will miss his sixth consecutive game and his 12th overall, as he will miss the final two games of the season. Today he skated, and coach Jim Montgomery was extremely positive about him. He stated,
“Today was his finest hour. That gives us hope for where he’ll be for Game 1 [of the playoffs]”.David Krejci and his Boston Bruins career
Since his return to Boston this season, David Krejci has provided the Bruins with what they were missing in his absence the previous year, with 16 goals and 40 assists in 70 games for the President’s Trophy winners. Krejci will play for HC Olomouc in the Czech Republic in 2021-2022 after 15 years in Boston.
Since returning to New England, Krejci has played an important role in helping the Bruins beat the all-time single-season victory record they set last Sunday against the Philadelphia Flyers. Outside of the regular season, Krejci’s postseason performances have become legendary in Boston.
Krejci appeared in 25 games during the Stanley Cup playoff run in 2011, leading the league in scoring with 12 goals and 11 assists. When the Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup Final two years later, Krejci once again led the way for the entire team. Krejci had nine goals and 17 assists in 22 games, but the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup.
Coyle and Zacha are capable replacements for the Bruins.
While Krejci has been away, the Bruins have benefited from superb center play from Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha. Nonetheless, David Krejci has a reputation as one of the best postseason players, and Boston is hoping that he will lend his support to the team’s efforts.
Additional Boston Bruins injuries
Aside from Krejci, notable Bruins players missing time include Patrice Bergeron and Dimitry Orlov. They may all be available before the playoffs begin.
Others, such as Charles McAvoy, Taylor Hall, and Linus Ullmark, were rested versus Philadelphia due to recent ailments. Despite this, no one has been able to prevent the squad from breaking the record.
