With three players missing, star returns from injury in four Leeds United substitutions against Huddersfield Town.
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has made four changes to his team for Saturday’s Championship game against Huddersfield Town (kick-off 12.30pm).
Wingers Crysencio Summerville and Dan James, as well as Glen Kamara and Jamie Shackleton, all make their debuts, with widemen Willy Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony, as well as Archie Gray and Ilia Gruev, dropping to the bench.
Farke’s only injuries were Junior Firpo, Stuart Dallas, and Djed Spence for Wednesday night’s game at Stoke City, in which Summerville was one of three players who came off the bench. Summerville was finally introduced as a second-half substitute in the 1-0 loss, and Farke noted that the winger was playing with painkillers and a strapped shoulder due to recent minor injuries.
Farke stated at Friday’s pre-match press conference that Leeds only needed to be cautious with Summerville, but that the Dutchman was not a doubt to face the Terriers. Farke noted that Leeds had taken a few knocks in the defeat against Stoke but that there had been no new severe injuries, leaving Firpo, Dallas, and Spence out.
Terriers manager Darren Moore has made three changes to his Huddersfield squad, including a debut for Brahima Diarra, who replaces the injured Jack Rudoni. Loanee Tom Edwards replaces Jaheim Headley, while ex-Whites defender Tom Leeds replaces Matty Pearson.
Moore names two players from his B squad on the bench, including 20-year-old defender Luke Daley and 18-year-old midfielder Tom Iorpenda, due to Josh Koroma’s groin injury. In addition to Rudoni and Koroma, Josh Ruffels (groin), David Kasumu (hamstring), Ollie Turton (knee), Danny Ward (Achilles), Pat Jones (hamstring), and Loick Ayina (heel) are also out.
Leeds United’s starting lineup is as follows: Meslier; Shackleton, Struijk, Rodon, Byram; Ampadu, Kamara; James, Summerville, Piroe, Rutter. Darlow, Ayling, Cooper, Gray, Gruev, Anthony, Poveda, Gnonto, Bamford are the substitutes.
Nicholls, Helik, Hogg, Lees, Burgzorg, Diarra, Thomas, Edwards, Harratt, Wiles, and Nakayama for Huddersfield Town. Maxwell, Edmonds-Green, Pearson, Headley, Jackson, Austerfield, Daley, Hudlin, and Iorpenda are the substitutes.
James Bell is the official referee.
