Newcastle is now interested in a £29 million player who is in good form.

Newcastle United are allegedly interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Charles De Ketelaere.

The Belgian is presently on loan at Atalanta after a disappointing season at Milan following his £29 million move from Club Brugge.

The 22-year-old failed to score a single goal and provided only one assist in 32 Serie A matches during his year at the San Siro.

However, he has started the season excellently with Atalanta, contributing three goals in five games, and a lot of top sides are now keeping an eye on him.

According to CalcioMercato, Newcastle, Arsenal, and Manchester United are all interested in signing De Ketelaere.

Milan have a 10% sell-on clause if Atalanta exercise their option to buy him before selling him, and the Belgian international may cost a lot of money.

Is this a wise decision?

It is certainly too early to tell whether De Ketelaere is truly back to his best following a disastrous season at Milan, but the early signals at Atalanta are encouraging.

He was a big talent at Club Brugge, and if he can reach his full potential, he might be a fantastic addition to Newcastle.

De Ketelaere, an attacking midfielder who can also play on the flanks, might bring end-product and creativity if he is at his best, having scored 23 goals and assisted on 39 attempts in his final season in Brugge.

He might provide a new option in Newcastle’s midfield while also offering an option on the right wing. Although a January move is improbable, he is a player Newcastle may keep an eye on at Atalanta if his impressive start to the season continues.

With the team lacking in creativity this season, Eddie Howe could use another offensive midfield option, and if he joins and makes an impact, he might end up being an under-the-radar cheap buy.
