Nottingham Forest submit £25.5m loan-to-buy offer for Sangare

Nottingham Forest have submitted a £21.3million loan-to-buy bid for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League club have held extensive talks over a deal for the midfield anchorman, who has a £32m release clause in his contract.

Forest have not activated that clause and have instead offered to take the player on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy set at £25.5m.

PSV have a replacement lined up for Sangare in case they lose him in the final week of the window.

Much could depend on whether the Dutch giants qualify for the group stages of the Champions League.

PSV drew 2-2 against Rangers in the opening leg of their Champions League qualification match on Tuesday evening – the return fixture is scheduled for 30 August at the Philips Stadion.

Sangare’s £25.5million fee would make him the most expensive signing of the summer for Forest, although the obligation to buy clause means any payment would be delayed until next year.

Sangare has started the 2023/24 campaign in superb form, scoring twice and assisting once in PSV’s first six matches of the season.

He netted just after the hour mark at Ibrox on Tuesday to draw PSV level with Rangers.

The 25-year-old was a crucial player for Peter Bosz’s side last season too, with Sangare making 45 appearances across all competitions and scoring eight times as PSV secured second in the Eredivisie.

Sangare first joined the Dutch club in 2020 from French side Toulouse.
