Update on new Rangers boss as Kevin Muscat issue emerges
According to FTBL.com, Kevin Muscat has emerged as a prospective replacement to ousted Rangers manager Michael Beale and is open to a return to Europe.
According to the online news source, the timing may be a concern, as his Yokahoma F. Marinos team is still defending their title from last season.
Questions have been raised about whether the boss would be prepared to jump ship at this time, though this is dependent on the Rangers’ haste in finding a new boss. Regardless, Muscat is said to be looking for a second opportunity in Europe.
A difficult task to refuse
The Rangers’ job is notoriously difficult to turn down in the past. Beale demonstrated this when he left high-flying QPR mid-season to join Glasgow Rangers, and Muscat may do the same.
Another thing both managers have in common is a previous association with the club. Beale had served as Steven Gerrard’s assistant manager, while Muscat formerly played for Ibrox, making the decision even more tough.
Of course, parallels may be drawn with former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou. While his arrival came in the summer rather than the middle of the season, he, too, left Japan in search of one of the most important jobs in European football.
