Graham Potter, a former Chelsea manager, might take Jose Cifuentes to the next level at Rangers.

Graham Potter, a former Chelsea and Brighton manager, has been linked with the Ibrox hot seat following Rangers’ decision to break ways with Michael Beale.

Steven Gerrard’s former assistant failed to live up to the high standards set by his mentor and was fired after the club supported him in the transfer window.

On 2 October, Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards told the BBC podcast Transfer Gossip Daily that Gers had contacted the former Premier League boss.

Potter most recently failed at Chelsea, where he was fired just months after being appointed to replace Thomas Tuchel.

His performance at Stamford Bridge, though, was symbolic of the mayhem going on behind the scenes, and Rangers will be a far better environment for him to thrive in.

His work at Brighton speaks volumes, particularly in terms of how he developed his midfielders, and he has the potential to have the similar impact on Jose Cifuentes.

Moises Caicedo and Alex Mac Allister were both unknown commodities before starting work at the Amex Stadium under Potter.

However, within a few months, he was able to pull a song out of them like no other manager before him, resulting in one being sold for a record-breaking transfer fee and the other playing a vital role in guiding his side to a World Cup victory.

Cifuentes, who has yet to make an impact at Ibrox, may benefit under a manager like Potter, who can maximize his ability to play progressive passes and be an all-action number eight.

While they are in different levels, it is clear that Cifuentes’ stats are similar to Mac Allister’s, and the ex-Chelsea manager may be the appropriate guy to bring out the best in him.

Pep Guardiola, widely regarded as the best manager in the world, has also stated numerous times how much he admires the Englishman.

It remains to be seen whether he is interested in the Rangers post, but the club must make every effort to bring him in.

In other Rangers news, Alan Shearer has made a claim about the club’s Europa League campaign in light of what Gary Lineker just remarked.
