Updated on the Virginia Tech Transfer Portal: Two Guards Will Visit the Hokies
I have enumerated 61 players on our transfer portal page with whom Virginia Tech has been in contact since the portal opened. There is a lot to keep up with, and the list is growing every day. It is nearly impossible to keep track of everything because, for the most part, guys don’t receive many updates after they first access the portal. We’ll update you on the few guys we’ve heard anything about today and discuss portal recruiting in general.
I had a strong suspicion last week that Brendan Wenzel of Wyoming would travel to Blacksburg to join his sister Carleigh, but that is not going to happen. It makes sense that his six finalists, TCU, Creighton, Mississippi State, Texas Tech, SMU, and Oklahoma State, would like him to play his final year of college basketball relatively close to home.

Second, Ben Burnham, a forward from College of Charleston who will play the four for Virginia Tech, committed to the Hokies after reading our previous transfer portal article. Burnham’s dedication serves as an illustration of how impossible it is to be aware of everything that is happening. There were no rumors that he had communication with the Hokies prior to his commitment. It’s not necessarily the case that communication has stopped just because a player isn’t visible on our portal page.
