Everton capture former Liverpool defender Megan Campbell on a short-term contract.
Megan Campbell, a former Liverpool defender, has joined Everton.
Her contract with Liverpool expired in the summer, and she left after 27 Women’s Super League outings for the Reds.
BBC Sport is aware of the situation. Campbell, who has 47 Republic of Ireland caps, has signed to a short-term contract.
“It’s a different challenge for me, coming into the WSL with a new team, and I’m looking forward to it,” Campbell told the Everton website.
“Hopefully I can thrive in the blue of Everton and I’m confident it can be a successful season for the team.”
“We are delighted to welcome Megan to the club,” Everton head coach Brian Sorensen remarked. She is an experienced player who has represented Ireland both domestically and internationally.
“Heading into the new season, we wanted to add some experience to our group and Megan ticks every box in that department.”
On Sunday, Everton will kick up their 2023-24 WSL season at home against Brighton.

NEWS IN : Everton plot January move for 25-year-old international star
Everton could look into loaning out Aaron Ramsdale in January, with the 25-year-old Arsenal star’s future unknown.
Fichajes has identified Aaron Ramsdale as a prospective January target for Everton, with the Toffees apparently hoping to bring the 25-year-old Arsenal player on loan. The goalkeeper’s immediate future at Arsenal has been called into question, although a move to Merseyside is unlikely.
Everton are still in a difficult financial situation and may have to make sales in the January window after failing to leave in the summer. Amadou Onana and Jordan Pickford are two players who would guarantee a large enough transfer fee, with the latter attracting considerable interest.
Pundits such as Jamie Carragher have indicated that Ramsdale may depart Arsenal if the club choose to sell one of their goalkeepers. As things currently stand, most pundits believe Raya will eventually become the club’s indisputable No.1, leaving Ramsdale’s future uncertain.
Ramsdale only signed a new contract in May, and Arsenal will not look to offload him this season, particularly in January. According to last week’s reports, he is being pursued by Bayern Munich and Chelsea. When it becomes evident that Arsenal is willing to sell him, many other clubs will make offers as well.
Earlier reports stated that Ramsdale is ready to battle for his spot and is unaffected by the speculation about his future. Everton are the latest team to express an interest in signing him, albeit they may be unable to afford a permanent deal, particularly in January.
According to the report, the Toffees may look into a loan deal for the 25-year-old Arsenal star if his situation in North London worsens. Ramsdale may not want to join Everton because it would be a step down from Arsenal.
However, if it means playing frequently elsewhere and Raya has established himself as Arsenal’s unquestioned No.1, he may consider it, especially if Pickford leaves the Toffees.
