I didn’t have faith in the club or the coach – Norwich City loanee admits

Christos Tzolis, on loan from Norwich City, has confessed that he has not had the confidence of club or coach in recent years, but he has found it at his new club Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Tzolis, 21, moved to Norwich permanently from PAOK Salonika in 2021 but struggled to make an impact at Carrow Road.

David Wagner’s side were ready to dump the Greek star this summer, and Fortuna Dusseldorf stepped in to save him.

Tzolis joined the German second-tier team on loan with a purchase option, and the forward is already on fire for his new club.

He disclosed that Fortuna Dusseldorf has faith in him, which he claims was lacking at Carrow Road in recent years.

When challenged about his form, Tzolis told German daily Bild, “That was not 100% of me by a long shot.”

“I want to improve even more and become even better.” I want to score as many goals as possible, but I haven’t set any targets for myself.

“I’ve had a difficult few years, and I was also injured last season.”

“It’s a new beginning for me with a new team, and things are going very well.”

“It is the club’s and the coach’s trust.”

“You can improve if you have confidence.”

“I haven’t had that in recent years, but I’m enjoying football more now.”

Fortuna Dusseldorf now leads the 2. Bundesliga league, and it remains to be seen whether the club would make Tzolis’ loan deal permanent next summer.
