Burnley’s “fantastic” Clarets star has been injured.
The Clarets are already without many players for their trip to St James’ Park.
Burnley will be missing a “fantastic” player for their trip to Newcastle United on Saturday, as Vincent Kompany’s injury woes worsen.
What is the most recent Burnley injury news?
The Clarets have yet to win a Premier League game this season, and as a result, they are in the bottom three. However, the club has had a difficult start to the season, losing to Manchester City, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United while drawing with Nottingham Forest.
Burnley’s situation does not improve with a trip to St James’ Park tomorrow afternoon to face Eddie Howe’s side. Hjalmar Ekdal, Darko Churlinov, Nathan Redmond, and Michael Obafemi have all been sidelined in recent weeks at Turf Moor and will not participate, while Lyle Foster has been suspended.
Manuel Benson is expected to join them on the sidelines after being substituted early in the midweek EFL Cup triumph over Salford City owing to an ankle injury. Kompany stated before of the game this weekend, as cited by The Burnley Express, that Benson will miss out this weekend but is hopeful that his injury will “heal fairly quickly.”
“It’s not terrible news, but it has an impact on the squad for the weekend.” It was a hard hit, so it’s a little of both. But it’s nothing major, so maybe he’ll recover shortly. That probably comes at a nice time with the international break.”
How talented is Manuel Benson?
Benson starred in his first season in England last year, contributing 15 goals to the Championship-winning campaign.
As a result, he was dubbed “fantastic” by Kompany, who added after he scored last season: “He’s got to score five in a row.” It’s not a coincidence; he possesses a skill.
“It’s the same as a striker being able to split the defense and head it in.” I can’t give advice on how to deal with him since it’s just what he’s done since he was a youngster.”I’m still pleading with him for tap ins–I need tap ins.
“In the end, it’s something he enjoys doing, and he’ll achieve his goals that way.” What he’s done for us is amazing, and that’s all we want. He’s doing well, and we’re encouraging him to keep doing well, and I’m delighted to have him on board.”
However, Benson, who was making his second start of the season in the week, has struggled thus far in 2023/24.
The winger has played just over 90 minutes of football in all competitions and may be out for a short spell. If he doesn’t return until after the international break, as Kompany has suggested, Benson will miss games against Luton Town and Chelsea, where the Clarets are hoping to win their first league game of the season.
