Robert Saleh, the Jets’ QB1, committed to Zach Wilson after the Raiders’ defeat, but he also considered other options.
New Haven Zach Wilson will continue to start at quarterback for the Jets, according to head coach Robert Saleh.

Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports that Robert Saleh, the head coach of the New York Jets, stated that neither Zach Wilson nor the play caller will be changing at quarterback.

With a 16–12 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders last night, the Jets dropped to 4-5, and many are demanding that quarterback Zach Wilson be replaced. Rosenblatt reports that Robert Saleh did mention that the Jets are thinking about making some personnel adjustments.

This week, the Jets will go on the road to play the Buffalo Bills. After Aaron Rodgers was sidelined with a torn Achilles tendon in Week 1, Wilson assisted the Jets in defeating the Bills. After trailing 13-3 at the half, the Jets won the game 19-13 on a punt return in overtime.

The Jets, who are currently 4-5, will need every victory to salvage their season, and they will face a formidable opponent in the Bills on the road. To defeat Buffalo once more, the Jets defense will surely need to put on another impressive display.

Although many fans want one of the two Jets players—Tim Boyle or Trevor Siemien—to start over Wilson, it does not appear that will happen. Not yet, anyway.

According to Aaron Rodgers, he plans to return in December. The Jets are making an effort to remain competitive until he might return. Saleh might be motivated to switch quarterbacks if things get bad enough. In the upcoming weeks, Wilson will need to put on some strong performances.

The Las Vegas Raiders defeated the New York Jets 16–12 on Sunday Night Football in Week 10, moving them to 2-0 under interim head coach Antonio Pierce. The Raiders’ defense, which is the focal point of this week’s winners and losers, came through big to secure the “W,” as the score would suggest.

After his performance yesterday, Robert Spillane most definitely deserved a game ball. He not only shared the team lead with seven total tackles, but he also recorded his third interception of the season, which essentially ensured Las Vegas’ victory. With that pick, he ties Logan Wilson and Fred Warner for the most among linebackers this season and moves into a tie for sixth place in the league overall.

According to Pro Football Focus, Spillane also had a sack, two pressures, and three defensive stops. As a result, he received an exceptional 90.8 overall grade from PFF, the highest rating among linebackers this week.

More importantly, though, may be the fact that he avoided missing any of the tackles that had been bothering him since the start of the season on Sunday, continuing his recent hot streak of only one missed tackle in the previous four games.

One of the top defensive tackles in the NFL, Quinnen Williams, will be Andre James’ opponent this week. James was clearly outclassed by Williams, who gained at least a few repetitions that resulted in a tackle for loss or a short gain against the run. As a result, the center’s run-blocking grade of 59.8 PFF was below average, and his pass-protection grade wasn’t much better either.

James received a below-average grade in pass protection (54.7) after allowing three pressures, two of which resulted in hits on Aidan O’Connell, a sack and a quarterback hit. Again, Williams and the Jets’ defensive line present a formidable opponent for interior offensive linemen, and things won’t get any easier with Christian Wilkins and Chris Jones in the mix for the next two weeks.

John Jenkins is putting together a strong run of performances, somewhat quietly. He had an overall PFF grade in the 70s (73.6) for the fifth straight game on Sunday, and he added two more defensive stops to raise his total to 10 in that span of play.
