‘Exceptional’ Manager Wants to Replace Daniel Farke at Leeds…
Russell Martin could wait on any potential job opportunities to see if the Leeds United job becomes vacant in the coming months, according to reports – with the sacked Southampton boss thought to ‘really like’ the idea of potentially moving north to manage the Whites amid their Premier League promotion.
Martin was sacked by Southampton in December, and having been out of work since, he’s been linked with a number of clubs but he remains on the market. A talented young coach, he has a number of avenues he could go down – but reports state that he is willing to wait to see if Elland Road becomes a genuine destination.

The report by EFL Analysis states that Martin looks ‘destined’ to land a new job this summer – and that could be at Leeds, who are thought to be looking for a replacement for Daniel Farke, despite the German taking them up from the Championship.

Leicester City have been touted as a potential destination, with the Foxes looking for a new boss to replace beleaguered Ruud Van Nistelrooy amid a shocking 2025 that has seen the Foxes fail to score at home at all in the Premier League since December 8.
But whilst Martin is open to the idea of taking over at Leicester, Martin is pushing himself towards the Leeds job – and the report suggests that Martin would ‘really like’ the Leeds role if Farke is relieved of his duties despite securing promotion last week. As a result, he’s happy to wait it out to see what offer could be put his way before looking at other roles, such as Leicester or Glasgow Rangers – especially with Leeds being keen on him, per GMS sources last week.
Farke is thought to be under pressure as a result of his Premier League record with Norwich City, where he mustered just 21 points in his first season before being sacked once again after recording five points from 11 games just two years later – and Martin’s record with Southampton earlier this campaign was even worse, with the same number of points from five extra games before being sacked – despite being called ‘exceptional’ by Pep Guardiola earlier in the campaign.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Russell Martin won 33 of his 73 games in charge of Southampton.
However, his principles and a stronger squad than his Southampton one could also see him blossom in west Yorkshire if he is backed by 49ers Enterprises, who are looking to invest heavily in the club this summer.
