Aston Villa ace Triston Rowe is a loan target for Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers, sources have told Football Insider.

The 18-year-old right-back is yet to make his debut for Unai Emery‘s Villans side, but Rowe is now being lined up for a potential Championship club going into the summer transfer window.

Sources have told Football insider that second-tier duo Wednesday and Rovers have enquired about taking the England Under-19 international for next season, after both failed to reach the Championship play-offs.

Rowe helped Aston Villa’s Under-18s win a treble this year and he was named in the Lions’ first-team matchday squad for the Carabao Cup clash at Wycombe earlier this season, which Emery’s side won 2-1.

Football Insider revealed on 12 May that Blackburn are one of five Championship and MLS clubs keen on Swansea striker Jerry Yates, but Rowe would also be a solid addition for either Rovers or Wednesday.

Rowe has racked up 1,400 minutes across 17 appearances for Villa’s Under-21s in Premier League 2, scored his first goal against Brighton in February and registered an assist in the UEFA Youth League.

Villa’s Under-18s won the Under-18 Premier League, FA Youth Cup and Premier League South titles this season, and sources have told Football Insider that Rowe’s development has been sufficient enough to draw interest from senior Championship sides.

Emery has faced a near-constant battle to keep a fully-fit defensive line this season, with several players used as makeshift right-backs after several injury issues picked up by Emery’s first-choice Matty Cash.

Andres Garcia was signed from Levante to deputise for Cash in January, but Emery will again be keen to upgrade in the summer after opting to play both Ezri Konsa and Axel Disasi in the position this season.

Konsa is arguably Villa’s best central defender and Emery will be reluctant to use him out of his strongest position next term, and despite much of the focus being on transfers in the forward line at Villa Park, a right-back could be top of the shortlist this summer.
