West Ham United transfer news as bid matches Montpellier valuation of Elye Wahi
West Ham have tabled a bid for striker Elye Wahi which is the exact amount Montpellier want for his services this summer, according to L’Equipe.
The French newspaper wrote on its website on Friday (18 August) that £34million is what the French side want for the 20-year-old with an agreement reached on the fee.
It’s understood that in the coming days, he will become the club’s record sale with the French forward’s exit to be sealed very soon.
If this is what Montpellier want, then the Hammers need to go ahead and get the personal terms sorted.
From what the report claims, no club can offer what West Ham are for the 20-year-old which blows other teams out of the water.
Wahi wants to leave and the Ligue 1 club want to cash in so this is a deal that works out for all parties.
He is a tad expensive for someone that young but he’s proven he can be a reliable goal scorer and will only get better in the coming years.
David Moyes desperately needs a player like Wahi to lead the line and the Hammers need to get this one sooner rather than later.
His arrival should give others a boost and if Lucas Paqueta stays put at the club, it will only be a good thing for everyone involved.
In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
