West Ham United transfer news as Anthony Martial move on cards

West Ham are eyeing a deal for Manchester United striker Anthony Martial after registering their interest with the club, with talks at an early stage, according to talkSPORT.

The news outlet shared on their website [12 August] that the Hammers have moved for Martial after agreeing to a £30million fee for Harry Maguire, as they look to improve their forward options before the transfer window closes.

It is shared that Manchester United may struggle to command a high fee for the French international, as his contract at Old Trafford is set to expire at the end of the season.

Another solid option

While Martial never hit the heights expected of him when he first arrived at Old Trafford as a 19-year-old. he still presents a solid option as a striker with his movement and attacking instincts likely to provide a different option to the front line at the London Stadium.

His ability on the ball makes him different to current Hammers duo Danny Ings and Michail Antonio, with the first more of a poacher and finisher, and the latter a physically dominant forward who excels more at hold-up play.

If Martial is attainable for a low fee, it could be worth the gamble for a West Ham side who are notoriously stingy with spending multiple large transfer fees in the same window.

Other strikers that have been on West Ham’s radar include Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun [Calciomercato, 10 August], who would be a more expensive option, and Elye Wahi, the young French striker described as ‘the best young striker in Europe’ by the Hammers’ technical director Tim Steidten [teamTALK, 10 August].

In other West Ham news, another player is expected to leave the club in the next 48 hours.

West Ham hero set to move to Premier League club for an embarrassing fee

West Ham have kicked off their season against Bournemouth on Saturday with players still determined to leave the East London outfit.

David Moyes and David Sullivan, along with new technical director, Tim Steidten, have had an awful summer in terms of new signings, and even though Edson Alvarez was signed earlier in the week, Moyes decided not to play him.

A big performance and result on Saturday is required because the last thing that the Hammers need at this early stage is to be playing catch up to the other teams in the league.

When you consider who they’ve got coming up in the next few weeks too, it could be a long few weeks for Moyes and his players.

Aaron Cresswell doesn’t appear to be too enamoured with the club as he tried to leave earlier in the window but Wolves were unable to get the deal over the line.

According to the Twitter account, West Ham Football, believed to be run by Sean Whetstone, a supposed confidant of Hammers chairman, David Sullivan, the Cresswell deal could be back on for the paltry sum of £4m.

The tweet references The Guardian suggesting that Gary O’Neil’s first signing will be the veteran West Ham left-back, and Moyes must be desperate to get rid of the player if he’s willing to let him go for that amount of money.

Another poor decision by the Scot?

I can’t honestly understand how Moyes is still our manager it’s baffling any other team would have changed by now Moyes has shown he can’t handle players he doesn’t choose haller / scamacca he was really against benrahma and we have players wanting to leave because of the way he plays people out of position and not to there strengths
