‘Very, very good,’ says Rob Edwards of Wolves star after 1-1 draw
Wolves drew 1-1 with Luton Town yesterday, and Rob Edwards praised Pedro Neto after the game.
Wanderers are the only Premier League team yet to defeat the Hatters this season.
Wolves delivered a dismal display, failing to put a glove on Luton.
It was a commanding performance, aided in part by a foolish red card for Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.
His scuffle on the ground with Tom Lockyer culminated in his dismissal, leaving Wolves with a massive task.
However, they took the lead thanks to an excellent goal from Neto, before a highly contentious decision allowed Luton to equalize from the penalty spot.
Former Wolves player and coach Edwards had some kind words for the winger after the game…
Rob Edwards heaps praise on Pedro Neto following his goal and effort for Wolves against Luton Town.
Because of his ties to the club, Edwards was also willing to heap praise on a Wolves player if the situation demanded it.
And it was Neto who he singled out in his post-match interview for the Luton Town website.
“I’m disappointed in how he conceded the goal,” he remarked (via Luton official), suggesting the red card gave Wolves more “fight.” But, having said that, I believe Neto is very, very good. We had obviously highlighted him before the game. He has the ability to transform the course of a game in an instant. He did it. He’s a world-class international footballer.”
Neto recently forced his way back into the Portugal squad following a strong start with Wolves.
He played about 30 minutes against Slovakia, his first appearance for the national team since March 2021.
Neto is looking great for the Wolves.
Neto has received a lot of attention this season for his influence in the last third.
Four assists and a goal in a very lackluster team is quite impressive.
But it’s also been encouraging to see how fit and sharp Neto has been off the field.
He appears to have a lot of energy right now, and his work rate is really obvious.
