Antonee Robinson leads three-man shortlist to make big-money Liverpool transfer..

Antonee Robinson has shone for Fulham at Anfield and Liverpool will get another look at him this weekend when Arne Slot’s side visit Craven Cottage..

Short of popping his CV under Richard Hughes’ door at Anfield, it’s hard to see what more Antonee Robinson could have done to champion a move to Liverpool. Robinson has saved some of his best performances for Anfield and last season he set a new record when he made 13 interceptions in the rollercoaster 4-3 loss in December 2023.

He also became the first American to register an assist in three consecutive games in that match. The left-back shone when he returned in December and laid on both Fulham goals as Marco Silva’s side drew 2-2 with Liverpool at Anfield.

Arne Slot drops hint on Liverpool’s summer transfer plan after new Mohamed Salah deal
Despite Andy Robertson’s protestations that he is not going anywhere, Liverpool need a new top-class left-back and Kostas Tsimikas is not good enough to play every week. The champions elect will get another look at Robinson – not that they need it – on Sunday when they visit Craven Cottage. In total, Robinson has 10 Premier League assists this season and is one of the best, if not the best, left-backs in the top flight.

Arne Slot is not like Jurgen Klopp in that he likes his full-backs to be more mindful of their defensive duties, instead of bombing forward on the break. Robinson’s statistics more than back up his defensive qualities and he has more tackles (2.7), interceptions (1.7) and clearances (3.1) than his rivals for a move to Liverpool – Milos Kerkez and Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Robinson is at his peak years as a footballer and he is 27. The one downside is his cost and Fulham would want around £50million for their skipper, who will have three years left on the five-year agreement he signed in July 2023.

He knows the area and although he was born in Milton Keynes, he grew up on Merseyside, giving himself the nickname Jedi in his youth team. Robinson was at Everton’s academy from the age of 11 and was there for 11 years before they let him join Wigan in 2019 in yet another own goal for the Blues.

Fulham picked him up for a bargain £2million in 2020 following Wigan’s relegation and he has blossomed at Craven Cottage, winning their Player of the Year award last season. Silva knows the big clubs are casting covetous eyes at Robinson and is determined to get full value for him, if he must lost one of his star assets.
