Jorgen Strand Larsen has now done something not even Raul Jimenez managed at Wolves…
Wolves were beaten by Crystal Palace last night at Selhurst Park – but there was one small positive to take.
It’s now three defeats in a row for Wolves after six wins on the spin, and Vitor Pereira’s side appear to have run out of steam a little.
Wolves took the lead through Emmanuel Agbadou at Selhurst Park, but then conceded almost immediately to Eddie Nketiah.
Nketiah then scored again, meaning Wolves then had to chase the game.
Ben Chilwell scored a free-kick that deflected in off the wall, and Eberechi Eze sealed the points late on after Jorgen Strand Larsen scored his 14th goal of the season.
And that goal was somewhat significant.

Jorgen Strand Larsen surpasses Raul Jimenez’s first season goal tally at Wolves
But Strand Larsen can hold his head high after scoring for the 14th time this season, despite being starved of service.
14 is a very respectable tally, for someone playing in a team that has largely struggled in 2024/25.
And 14 actually means he has now surpassed the tally Raul Jimenez finished with in his first season at Wolves.
And impressively, none of Strand Larsen’s 14 goals have been from the penalty spot. Two of Jimenez’s 13 were penalties.
Strand Larsen is often compared to Jimenez, and it seems like the Norwegian has now cemented himself as the best striker at the club since the Mexican departed.

Wolves in safe hands with Strand Larsen
Strand Larsen will be signed permanently by Wolves this summer for around £23 million, after he surpassed the number of games he needed to play earlier in the campaign.
And that fee is a bargain, because Strand Larsen has shown he is more than capable of leading the line and scoring goals for Wolves.
14 is a great return in his first season in English football – but it hasn’t just been about the goals.
Jorgen Strand Larsen in 2024/25
Appearances – 37
Minutes played – 2796
Goals – 14
Assists – 4
Since the very beginning, Strand Larsen has worked his socks off for Wolves, running the channels and dropping deep to link play.
At times it’s been a thankless task for him. Earlier this season, Steve Bull said he told Strand Larsen he’d have to be patient at Wolves leading the line. So he deserves huge credit for what he’s done.
Hopefully he’ll step up even more next term with it looking highly likely that Matheus Cunha will no longer be at Molineux.
