Harry Maguire left furious as West Ham United want to seal new transfer
West Ham target Harry Maguire has been left “furious” after he was stripped of the Manchester United captaincy amid links to the East Londoners, according to The Sun.
The newspaper reported on 16 July that the England international was “angry, shocked and upset” when Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag delivered the news to him at the club’s training ground.
The 30-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Hammers, while The Sun also claims Tottenham, Newcastle and Chelsea are also eyeing a move for the defender.
Act decisively
It comes as no real surprise to see Ten Hag take this step and strip Maguire of the captaincy after he spent large periods on the bench last season and the Dutch boss looks to force him out of Old Trafford.
West Ham have reportedly made their interest clear in the centre-back, but we are currently yet to put an offer on the table to secure his services this summer.
The problem facing us is that clubs such as Newcastle can offer him Champions League football, while Spurs and Chelsea may be able to offer more money without harming their wage structure.
that mean and the club’s hierarchy must act decisively, by firming up their interest with a bid for the Man United man. The opportunity to play more minutes and Europa League football – something neither Spurs nor Chelsea can do – has to be appealing.
It’s likely this one could drag on for a while, but the side that makes the first move could be in with the best shout of signing him.
In other West Ham news, one exit-linked Hammer sent a message to his former captain Declan Rice.
