Now that Southampton has been demoted from the Premier League, there are five players to watch in the summer transfer window.
Southampton has now been officially demoted to the English Championship after losing to Fulham 2-0 at home in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has been primed for a bigger move for a while now and Southampton’s unfortunate relegation provides a springboard for the set-piece specialist.

Ward-Prowse has scored 10 goals in 43 games for the Saints so far this season, making him their joint-top scorer while also contributing four assists.

The England international has also scored 17 goals directly from free kicks in the Premier League so far, the second-highest tally in the competition behind only David Beckham with 18.

It remains to be seen where Ward-Prowse will end up if he does leave St Mary’s this summer but clubs like Liverpool and Aston Villa have been mentioned so far.

The set-piece specialist, 28, has been waiting for a bigger move for some time, and Southampton’s unfortunate relegation offers him a platform.

With 10 goals and four assists in 43 games played for the Saints this season, Ward-Prowse is tied for the team lead in scoring.

The England international has also scored 17 goals in the Premier League this season straight from free kicks, second only to David Beckham’s 18 goals in the competition.

If Ward-Prowse does decide to leave St. Mary’s this summer, it’s unclear where he ends up, but teams like Liverpool and Aston Villa have been mentioned thus far.

Romeo Lavia’s time as a Saint was always limited, whether he was promoted or not, as the teenage player had been in high demand since the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old defensive midfielder, who spent €12.3 million last summer joining from Manchester City, has excelled in his first Premier League campaign.

Since then, he has participated in 32 Southampton games in all competitions, and elite teams like Chelsea and Arsenal are vying for his services.

It is hard to see the young Belgian losing with Southampton; in all likelihood, his rise to a larger team has been accelerated by the relegation.
