Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love Speaks Out on the Thanksgiving Day Loss to the Detroit Lions
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love recalls his team’s Week 4 loss to the Detroit Lions fondly. It was a disappointing defeat for Green Bay against their division rivals, and it left a bad taste in their mouths. Love himself stated that the Packers had been “waiting for this game for a while,” and they got their revenge against Detroit on Thursday night.
Love stole the show on Thanksgiving with another outstanding performance for the Packers. The 25-year-old threw three touchdown passes and zero interceptions while completing 22 of 32 passes.
Following the game, the young quarterback revealed the mindset that his team has maintained throughout the season — one that played a critical role in Thursday’s 29-22 victory:
“That’s just part of blocking everything out, being laser-focused on everything we’re doing,” Love said, according to Mike Spofford of the team’s website.
Love made this statement while discussing Green Bay’s offense, but we all know that given all of the criticism directed at him this season, this mindset applies to Love more than anyone else on the team.
Love delivered another strong performance on Thursday night, but it would not have been possible without the strong play of his wideouts. Christian Watson, in particular, was on a mission against the Lions, gaining 94 yards on five receptions and scoring once.
“The receivers balled out today,” Love said. “That’s that confidence we’re just going to keep building. They’re getting up and making plays, which is huge. I like how they’re competing and going out there.
The Packers entered this game as underdogs against a Lions team that, despite Thursday’s loss, remains atop the NFC North.
Despite everything they’ve been through this season, Love and company remain steadfast in their desire to keep building. This Thanksgiving victory over Detroit is unquestionably a step forward.
“That’s kind of the makeup of this team, where we don’t flinch,” he said. “Going through the season so far, the close losses, just the way everyone shows up every week and continues to work … we show up ready to play.”
