One day before the Oklahoma State fraternity’s championship game against the Texas Longhorns, a dead longhorn cow was discovered on the lawn.
One day prior to the Oklahoma State University football team’s championship matchup with the Texas Longhorns, a dead longhorn cow was discovered on the front lawn of a fraternity house on Friday morning.
A representative for the Stillwater Police Department told CNN that the longhorn carcass was discovered in the front yard of the university’s FarmHouse fraternity at approximately 6:39 a.m. The department is looking into the case, according to spokesman Terry Low. According to Low, the perpetrator may at the very least be charged with animal cruelty, which is a felony.
A statement from FarmHouse Fraternity stated that the cow was branded with a phrase that made reference to the fraternity in “an inappropriate manner.”
In the Texas Longhorns’ game against the Texas Tech Red Raiders on November 24, 2023, in Austin, Texas, Arch Manning #16 of the team throws a pass during the fourth quarter at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Peyton and Eli’s nephew Arch Manning makes his eagerly anticipated Longhorns debut.
The statement said, “As a chapter built on values inspired by our agricultural roots, we’re just as sickened and surprised by this incident as our peers on campus.” “Seeing the disdain for proper animal welfare and treatment demonstrated by this situation is disheartening.”
After thrashing Texas Tech 57-7 last Friday, the Longhorns advanced to play Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Big 12 Championship Game, which will be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Saturday at 12 p.m.
OSU expressed its shock at the “disturbing display of animal cruelty” in a statement, adding that the Office of Student Support and Conduct at the university has opened an investigation.
According to the statement, “appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation, and Oklahoma State expects all students to adhere to university codes of conduct.”

Prior to moving on to the SEC in 2024, the Texas football program will play its last game in the Big 12 Conference, which is the championship game. At AT&T Stadium on December 2, the Big 12 championship game between the No. 7 Texas (11-1, 8-1 Big 12) and No. 18 Oklahoma State Cowboys (9-3, 7-2 Big 12) is heavily favored.
This weekend in the Big 12 title game, head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns are marginally over two touchdown favorites against the Pokes. The Longhorns remain relevant in the College Football Playoff conversation with a victory over Oklahoma State.
However, Mike Gundy, the head coach, and the Pokes would give anything to win the Big 12 title against a team that plans to stay in the conference after this fall.
This season, injuries have befallen both Texas and Oklahoma State in equal measure. However, given how late in the season it is, neither team has too many injuries at critical spots.
Here is a look at the complete injury report for the Big 12 Championship Game on December 2 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, between No. 7 Texas and No. 18 Oklahoma State. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
During his press conference on Thursday, November 30, Sarkisian stated that redshirt junior boundary corner Ryan Watts should be available in place of injured sophomore defensive back and special teams gunner Austin Jordan. This comes after Sarkisian said during his Monday press conference that Watts was “questionable” following an upper-body injury he sustained during the team’s victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders last weekend.
After the Red Raiders’ opening play from scrimmage on Black Friday, Watts left the game with a back injury. Although Watts’ injury appeared serious at first, he was able to leave the field on his own.
Malik Muhammad, a true freshman cornerback, replaced Watts at boundary corner for the majority of the remaining plays against Texas Tech. During his practice at boundary corner last week, Muhammad excelled. He even made a stunning play in which he intercepted a Tech receiver for the first time in his career.
Watts may or may not be able to play against Oklahoma State this coming weekend, but either way, Muhammad and redshirt junior cornerback Gavin Holmes will likely rotate throughout the contest.
Senior safety Jalen Catalon is another significant injury for the Longhorns in the secondary. On November 18, while Texas was winning on the road in Ames against the Iowa State Cyclones, the Arkansas transfer reopened an upper-body injury.
Since sustaining the injury against Iowa State a few weeks ago, Catalon has not participated in any defensive plays for the Longhorns. Regarding Catalon’s injury status going into the Big 12 championship game, Sarkisian has not provided us with a definitive update.
In Catalon’s absence due to the injury, Texas has continued to rotate senior Jerrin Thompson, true freshman Derek Williams, redshirt sophomore Michael Taaffe, and senior Kitan Crawford at safety.
Jonathan Brooks, a redshirt sophomore running back, tore his ACL against the TCU Horned Frogs on November 11 and will miss the remainder of the season as a result. In Brooks’ absence over the past few weeks, true freshmen CJ Baxter Jr. and sophomore Jaydon Blue have received the majority of the carries at running back.
Compared to Texas, Oklahoma State’s injury report is a little bit longer. Three starters for Gundy’s team are out: wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling, linebacker Justin Wright, and offensive tackle Jason Brooks Jr.
Prior to suffering an arm injury against Iowa State in Week 4, Stribling was one of Oklahoma State’s top receivers during the first part of the season. It is anticipated that he will miss the remainder of the Pokes season.
Talyn Shettron, a redshirt freshman wideout for Oklahoma State, has been sidelined by an injury since the Cowboys’ victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers in Week 8.
Rashod Owens, Brennan Presley, and Leon Johnson have been the trio that Oklahoma State has relied on to pick up the pace; a few other receivers in the receiving corps have been
In lieu of senior former Tulsa transfer Justin Wright, defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo and the Pokes have found other solutions at linebacker. This season, Oklahoma State’s linebacker trio of Nickolas Martin, Xavier Benson, and Collin Oliver has performed admirably for the defense.
