A hockey player who spent two seasons with the Hershey Bears in the previous decade has taken his own life at an airport.
According to KSTP, on Monday, Andrew Carroll, who signed a contract with the Hershey Bears in February 2011, committed suicide at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

Carroll reportedly leaped to his death from an upper level of the airport, according to ABC 23, and later passed away in a Chicago hospital from his wounds.
The University of Minnesota-Duluth team honored the 32-year-old who had played for them by wearing the initials “AC” on their helmets during a game on Friday night, according to reports.

The forward also played for the Peoria Rivermen, the Abbotsford Heat, and the Hartford Wolf Pack/Connecticut Whale in the AHL.
Carroll’s family is reportedly donating his brain to the Boston University CTE Center in order to further study the progressive degenerative illness that is frequently present in patients who have experienced repetitive brain trauma.
Chris Carroll remarked, “My brother would want it if it could help somebody.”
Center Andrew Carroll made 93 appearances for the Bears in two seasons (2010–11 and 2011–12), contributing two goals and seven assists. His most recent ECHL team was the Idaho Steelheads.
