The Eagles’ injury woes continue to mount against the Jets.
One cornerback was uncertain to return, and another cornerback and safety were ruled out due to injury.
The Eagles’ secondary suffered another blow on Sunday as three more players were injured against the Jets. CB Bradley Roby is out with a shoulder injury and is uncertain to return, CB Eli Ricks is out with a knee injury, and SAF Reed Blankenship is out with a rib injury. Ricks and Blankenship were eventually ruled out.
These injuries merely added insult to injury for a team that was already missing cornerbacks Avonte Maddox and Darius Slay, as well as safeties Justin Evans and Sydney Brown.

Defensive coordinator Sean Desai has spoken about the importance of rotating players around the backfield for this reason, but having that many players hurt at once can’t be planned for. Since Week 2, they’ve had to shuffle players across the secondary, sending CBs and safeties to the slot and then back outside.
Depth at cornerback and safety didn’t appear to be a concern entering the season, with Howie Roseman working hard to bolster the group the previous two years, but nothing could have prepared them to lose different combinations of 3-5 players each week.
