John Cohen, the director of athletics at Auburn, has been discussing the ongoing negotiations for a few months now. He has stressed that Auburn is taking its time and looking into every option to find the best deal for both the university and the athletes who will be wearing Nike gear.
Through AuburnTigers.com this morning, Cohen made the following announcement regarding the new brand agreement:
“We are thrilled to begin this new collaboration with Nike, a company that continuously supports sports and athletes worldwide. We are grateful for their resolute assistance during this procedure. We are confident that our ten-year contract, which starts in July 2025, will best serve Auburn’s student-athletes and the university in the long run.
“We express our gratitude to Kevin Plank and Under Armour for their significant 18-year collaboration in enhancing the Auburn brand and providing support to our student athletes, coaches, and supporters. We eagerly anticipate the chance to commemorate this partnership during the upcoming year.”
After Cohen worked with Adidas at Mississippi State, Under Armour and Adidas reportedly competed with Nike to work with Auburn Athletics, according to Auburn Rivals. According to Auburn Undercover, the agreement was finalized with the assistance of numerous Auburn alums and contacts, including Bo Jackson, Charles Barkley, and Tim Cook. “Monetarily, it puts the Tigers among the top programs in the country that will be wearing Nike gear.”
