Schedule for Kentucky Football in 2024 was released.
The dates of Kentucky Football’s 12 regular season games in 2024, the first year of the SEC’s redesign, are known.
In the first year of the conference’s 16-team era—Texas and Oklahoma will join the SEC starting in the fall of 2024—the SEC released the full schedule for the 2024 football season.
There won’t be divisional play in the conference with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma. To be eligible to play in the SEC Championship Game, all 16 teams will contend for the top two spots in the league standings.
This fall, at least one Texas or Oklahoma matchup will be played by every SEC team. In Week 13, on November 23, the Wildcats will travel to Austin to play the Texas Longhorns.
The SEC schedule for 2024 calls for eight conference games per team; however, as early as 2025, that amount could increase to nine conference games, with a permanent opponent assigned to each team for every season. No team has a fixed opponent for 2024; instead, many will play some of their regular opponents from the SEC Divisional. For instance, UK will play teams from the SEC East that included the Wildcats: South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt.
The other three SEC teams that UK faces are Ole Miss, Auburn, and Texas.
Kentucky will play four non-conference games, all at home, in addition to its eight conference games. Louisville, Murray State, Ohio, and Southern Mississippi will be those opponents.
The 2024 Wildcats will aim to outperform their previous season’s 7-5 record in the regular season. Deone Walker, who is returning for his junior season, will head the Wildcats’ defense, while Brock Vandagriff, a transfer from Georgia, is anticipated to spearhead what looks to be a somewhat rebuilt Kentucky offense.
