Wembley injury concern revealed by Coventry City boss before Hull’s midweek CBS Arena match
Following Sunday’s exciting semi-final at Wembley, Mark Robins gives an update ahead of Hull based on Coventry City injury news from CoventryLive.
This week, Mark Robins will assess Fabio Tavares’ level of fitness after the Coventry City forward was forced to end his thrilling Wembley debut against Manchester United.
The 23-year-old was one of three significant substitutions made shortly after the hour mark of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final. The Sky Blues were trailing 3-0 to the Premier League heavyweights, who appeared to be coasting into the competition’s final to take on Man City, their cross-town rivals, the following month.
However, Tavares gave City’s incredible comeback a new attacking boost, setting up Ellis Simms for his response in the 71st minute. Callum O’Hare then further cut the deficit before Haji Wright equalized from the penalty spot to make the score 3-3 and force extra time.
After that, the player of Portuguese descent was forced to leave the game, and Matty Godden, another striker, took his place halfway through the 30-minute overtime period.
When asked what the problem was, Robins replied, “He was hurt.” He mentioned his ankle, but I’m not sure how serious it is. He simply wasn’t moving correctly. We had to try to make that adjustment there because, although he wanted to stay, he wasn’t moving in the right direction, and that right-hand side was looking very profitable for us.
The Robins will be hoping the injury isn’t too serious and that the player will be fit to play Hull City on Wednesday night at CBS Arena given his impact in the game and his positive contributions in recent weeks.
