Unexpected: Brian Callahan is appointed head coach of the Titans

The Tennessee  Titans  surprised everyone a few weeks ago when they sacked head coach Mike Vrabel following a 6-11 season that prevented them from making the NFL playoffs.

This firing sent shockwaves throughout the league, with there already being some prominent head coaches losing their jobs, like Bill Belichick, who agreed to part ways with the New England Patriots after 24 years with the storied NFL franchise.

With so many clubs to choose from in the free coaching market, the Titans wasted little time in starting the hiring process when they unexpectedly had a head coach vacancy.

The Titans are reportedly close to finalizing an agreement with Brian Callahan, the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals, to take over as head coach. This information comes from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Despite being only 39 years old, Callahan has already gained a great deal of experience in the NFL and has won a Super Bowl as a member of the Denver Broncos coaching team that defeated the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

In addition to serving as an assistant coach for the Broncos when he began his coaching career in 2010, he has also played for the Detroit Lions and the Oakland Raiders in the past.

Callahan isn’t exactly a headliner for the Titans, but he appears to have the expertise that Tennessee will need going ahead.

Titans supporters may anticipate a devastating offensive in 2024 thanks to Zac Taylor’s candid evaluation from Brian Callahan.

After careful consideration, the Tennessee Titans have decided to bring in former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan as head coach. Bengals head coach Taylor Zac  believes Callahan is a fantastic fit for the Titans, despite the fact that he will be Callahan’s first NFL head coach.

Taylor and Callahan collaborated since the latter was hired as the Bengals head coach in 2019. They enabled Cincinnati to accomplish great things, like winning the Super Bowl. According to ESPN’s Turron Davenport, Taylor understands exactly why the Titans signed him, even if he won’t be working with Callahan any more.

He creates the offense’s entire framework, according to Taylor. “He has contributed to the growth of every role we hold. He’s quite useful. I honestly don’t know enough about him to explain everything.

Callahan was the quarterbacks coach for the Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders before joining Taylor as an offensive coordinator. He was a coaching assistant for the Denver Broncos when he started his NFL coaching career. He was a Super Bowl 50 winning offensive assistant with the Broncos.

Callahan showed himself to be one of the league’s top offensive thinkers once he was given the chance to play for the Bengals. When Cincinnati had Joe Burrow for the whole 2022 season, the team averaged 360.5 yards per game, good for seventh place in the NFL.
